Carmelo Midili’s “Recent Work” is an exhibition of assemblage sculptures. The wooden armatures are swathed in canvases, appropriated from art school dumpsters. The practice of recycling works stems from the artist’s reflections on the concept of failure. Failure in development – not only as artists, but also as human beings – is an essential step for growth. Midili celebrates the process of development by reviving these abandoned paintings and paying homage to the artists’ failures.
