Artists in the city are the gleaners of space. Taking inspiration from the vacant store-front, the surrounding neighborhood and the city of New York itself, the artists create an ‘alternate’ window display that reacts/responds with the community through projections, soft sculpture and tape art. Tara de la Garza takes a roasting hen to a day spa for a massage. Amanda Browder uses locally donated fabrics to recreate a psychedelic vortex of color. From a neighborhood live poultry shop to the bright colored prismatic signage, this installation shows a core sample of how any vacant space is already unique.
