Brooklyn-based artist Brenda Zlamany will exhibit her latest work “888: Portraits in Taiwan,” from June 1st – June 30th, 2012 at the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in New York (‘TECO-NY’).
From July 1st to September 30th, 2011, supported by a Fulbright grant, Zlamany traveled in Taiwan, primarily to aboriginal villages. She made 888 watercolors of the people she met, using the camera lucida, a device for drawing that dates back to the Renaissance and that promotes a two-way exchange between artist and subject.
