Regeneration, or the process of renewal, is circular, dynamic, and happening all the time in both realms of time and space. For the exhibiting artists, catching a moment long enough is an eternal struggle, as they grew up with the Internet as a sibling, expanding alongside them. As their bodies grew, so did the virtual network which would bind them together. Whether it is through a screen or in a physical place, language, image, and the space between them have become manipulated in forms still very new to us. Through use of their own material vernacular, the artists in this exhibition aim to capture the range of mutability of the contemporary world, informed by physical surroundings, their fragments and remnants, their journey into a new kind of world, and back again. RE:GENERATION functions as a kind of time capsule, preserving objects as relics of our contemporary lifestyle, and proposing questions about our intimacy with ephemerae in relation to our physiological state.
