Leonard TournĂ© Gallery and Spoon invite you to a one-night exhibition of “A Tribute to Strip Malls,” a series of drawings by Nate Katz, a 21-year-old artist with autism. A part of the proceeds from the sale of Katz’s work will be donated to Springbrook, a nonprofit serving more than 550 people with developmental disabilities from across New York.

Katz devotes his studio time to drawing and documenting shopping malls from his own photographic record and from memory. His process includes digital camera, colored pencils, copious amounts of tape, digital prints, and found pre-printed mailers. His recall of details and physical changes to these mall locations is uncanny and well documented in much of his illustrated work.

In addition to the shopping mall series, Katz continues work on “toilaroids,” a series of photographs of public bathrooms accompanied by floor plans and fixture details, that he shares with a large online community.

Katz is currently pursuing a degree in graphic design at SUNY Cobleskill, in upstate New York.

RSVP appreciated to [email protected] or by phone at (212)219-2656.
