For over twenty years, Pepe Vives has worked primarily as a painter. Presently, he has devoted himself to pictorial transformation of printed imagery: photographs, newspapers, and magazines. Vives endows transitory and evanescent images with the auratic presence of an icon, freely playing off sacred connotations.
