Emily Kinni is a photographer living and working in New York and Los Angeles. Kinni’s work focuses on interior spaces that remain provocative because of their intense histories and cultural contexts. She has done extensive investigation and image production concerning Cowboy Churches, Honeymoon Suites, and prisons. In 2011, she received the Tierney Award, allowing her to travel to the eleven American states in which the death penalty has been abolished. This ongoing body of work, the documentation of current conditions of previous sites of execution, is in part on exhibition at 1:1 for the month of July. Kinni’s photographs have previously been exhibited in New York and internationally.
