Biography

Born 1987 in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. After graduating from Oita University, where he studied oil painting, Nomura moved to Tokyo, where he now lives and exhibits his work.

About his work

“In Japan, it is said by many revered artists that art must be of a concept that has value from a historical perspective. If the concept is fantastic, and if the work itself is, too, then I would tend to agree. But these days, so many young artists I’ve seen have focused so much on developing great concepts that they’ve not let their skills develop to be able to express them. I, too, let this happen to me when I first started painting in Tokyo. I believe that a true artist must have both novel and dynamic concepts and the finely honed skills to express and realize them. Understanding now the true importance of art and realizing that I still have a lot of work to do, this exhibition represents an important next step for me on my journey to creating art for the ages.”
