August 19 – 27

Resound 2 is a solo exhibit of oil on canvas works, a continuation with the conflicting task of seeking visual equivalents to sound. A musical background often becomes subject matter, conjoining a sense of place. Humbling moments and banal snapshots provide the source material for calm yet tumultuous paintings. This is the artists first solo exhibit in New York City.

Artist’s Bio: Carl Auge is an Artist and Designer living and working in New York City. He holds an MFA (2005) and BFA (2003) in painting and drawing from California College of the Arts, San Francisco, CA. Previous solo exhibitions include Rowan Morrison Gallery, Oakland, CA and Santa Clara University Gallery, Santa Clara, CA. Group exhibits include Close Calls, 2008, Headlands Center for the Arts, Sausalito, CA and Cream From the Top, Arts Benicia Gallery, Benicia, CA.

He is a recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award, a Walter and Elise Haas Fund Creative Work Fund Grant, and a chashama studio award. His artworks are included in many private and public collections.
