Following four extensive road trips across the United States over the past two years, covering over ten thousand miles, Ms. Zhang will present photographs taken during her travels of vacant billboards strewn across the American landscape. Presented in a variety of mediums — including collage, prints, and an immense, free-standing billboard — these images illustrate not only a recession-rattled countryside, but also the formal beauty of these structure, highlighting the elegance of their architectural design and often vivid color-palettes found within a history of worn-away layers.
