“By infusing inanimate objects with a personality, I am able to explore the human narrative outside of personal biases.”

Whether this is accomplished in his pictures depicting epic battles of warring apple varieties (often green Granny Smiths vs. Red Delicious), Jackson’s objective is simple: to create a body of artwork that is infused with intelligence and humor.

Utilizing a cast of characters that includes fruit, balloon dogs, pastries, toys, and wooden soda-pop crates, Jackson calls forth imagery that spans from the ridiculous to the sublime. The artist paints largely from life after he first physically constructs the fictitious events in his studio. A composition may depict donuts stacked by the dozens encircling a single cup of coffee or tight rope walking Oreo cookies. His subjects reference art history, cinema, science and current social issues.

In just over a decade Jackson has been the focus of twenty-four solo shows and over 60 group shows. His national exposure includes prominent venues such as the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, the Butler Art Institute, the Greenville Museum, the Brandywine River Museum of Art, the Tullman Collection, the Evansville Museum of Art, the Philbrook Museum, and the Hunter Museum. A 266 page monograph is available along with a show brochure.
