In Heather Cantrell’s series The Extended Family, the artist continues to explore her interest in collectives and communities. Whether photographing her biological family, or tribes from far away jungles, Cantrell sees a universal connection in creating associative links and attachments. Communes, cults, churches, secrete societies, and Tupperware parties all bring people together.

Cantrell is a Los Angeles-based artist. Her work has been previously shown at CCA Wattis institute in San Francisco and Black Dragon Society and the Heyworth Gallery in Los Angeles.
