Kunsthalle Galapagos proudly presents The Saga of Jimmy Canal, a multi-disciplinary installation by Brooklyn artist Kyle Simon and featuring Benjamin Folstein, opening Friday, November 2nd from 7-10 pm. A live performance will take place during the opening.

Set in the wild West of bygone days, The Saga of Jimmy Canal is an original story by Simon that chronicles the adventures of hero-sinner-loner Jimmy Canal. Using sculpture, print, painting, audio, and performance, Simon transforms the Kunsthalle into a multi-dimensional, multi-media diorama that tells the protagonist’s universal tale of love and redemption. The exhibition expands Simon’s practice of constructing narrative environments using diverse techniques and mediums. The Saga of Jimmy Canal is Simon’s second solo show in New York.

Kyle Simon is an artist, printmaker, and illuminator living in Brooklyn, New York. Simon was born in Philadelphia and graduated from the College of Santa In summer 2011, Simon traveled to Bludenz, Austria, where his prints and sculptures were presented at Galerie allerART. He currently works as a Master Printer at Pace Prints in New York.

Based in spirit on the collaborative and experimental kunsthalle model found in Europe, Kunsthalle Galapagos is run and curated by a group of volunteer artists and curators. We strive to be a multi-disciplinary artist-centric space that exhibits new visually and intellectually engaging work, while providing artists the opportunity to create outside the boundaries of commercial concerns. We showcase emerging and established artists, both local and international, who actively challenge convention.
