In her work, Dana Melamed amasses numerous layers of urban images and building materials in order to construct cities that exemplify the unremitting destruction and rebuilding of our surroundings. Melamed’s works embody narratives of the great cities of the world, yet, at the same time, resist the allusion to a specific time and place.
Melamed was born and raised in Israel and now lives in New Jersey. She holds a B.A. in architectural studies from Ort Technikum, Israel. She has had several solo exhibitions in Tel-Aviv and has participated in group shows in the United States, including New Found Land at Priska C. Juschka Fine Art. She recently took part in The Cooper Union Residency program.
