For the last few years Jadamec has been painting the surrounding areas she encounters on a daily basis. In the past, her work depicted the raw industrial city life of Brooklyn. The nearby Rockaway Coastline influences her most recent body of work, where the artist frequently surfs. From this perspective, she reflects on the dichotomy between this natural oceanic lifestyle amidst the setting of a older, unpolished constructed skyline.
Jadamec is inspired by neighborhoods, which depict simplicity or a lack of sophistication, which seems to contain a genuine innocence and unrefined Realism. At first glance the paintings are recognized as actual physical locations. However, upon closer observation the work only suggests depth through roughly layered and deconstructed brush marks. As a result, Jadamec reveals and contemplates society’s perception of reality through everyday existing environments.
