Torborg will present a series of new sculptures and drawings.
Torborg’s most recent sculptures are inspired by decadence, as well as the challenge to understand choice and its end. For each new sculpture, a different method is employed. Works range from lemons cast in plaster which sit on painted shelves to a tightly-rendered bison figure created in plastic with a painted surface. Although the works may seem disparate in nature they are all-American.
Representations are held under the artist’s own looking-glass to reveal the hyper-articulated actions and psychologies of the figures in question. Everything is safe all shown in a clear, but often bleak yet amorous light.
Eric Torborg is a MFA graduate from Hunter College, New York. This is his first solo exhibition in New York and his third exhibition at PH Gallery.
