Motti is best known for his dramatic and humorous interventions into the public sphere: from politics to sporting events, from art fairs to religious ceremonies. He consistently infiltrates situations and places normally closed to artists, using a blend of charm, persistence, fearlessness and radical politics.
In different projects, Motti has attempted to telepathically communicate with the president of Colombia, faked his own death and been carried in a coffin to a graveyard, insinuated himself into a week’s worth of news stories by trailing a team of newspaper reporters, and crafted a bar of soap from what he has said was the fat removed during the Italian Prime Minister’s cosmetic surgery. Motti’s exhibition at Metro Pictures may include a performance, as well as audio and video elements.
