Jack the Pelican and CremasterFanatic.com present THE MATTHEW BARNEY SHOW, curated by Eric Doeringer. THE MATTHEW BARNEY SHOW brings together the artwork of more than 30 emerging and established artists who have been inspired by video artist Matthew Barney. The exhibition includes drawing, painting, photography, video, fashion, and Matthew Barney memorabilia. Cremaster Fanatic, a fanzine devoted to Matthew Barney, is being published in conjunction with the exhibition and will be available for purchase at the gallery.

THE MATTHEW BARNEY SHOW features artwork by Richard Albeda, Barry X Ball, Matthew Ray Barney, Stephen Beveridge, Roz Chast, Michael R. Crusoe, Ryan Dale, Rico Deerring, Alan Demille, Marta Edmisten, John Allen Gibel, Sean Grilling, Ryan Humphrey, J.T. Kirkland, Nathan Kukulski, Sarah Lamont, David Langly, Matthew Larkin, Liz Magic Laser, Dan Levenson , Scott Lipman, Robert Madrigal, Charles McAndrews, Aaron McDonald, Sean Meyer, Plasticgod, Bradley Rubenstein, Steve Silvers, Harry Smythe, Carolyn Sortor, Chris Spinelli, Gilad Stark, Kimberly Stubbins, Amanda Tamayo, Erik Tlaseca, Timothy Tupper, Odey Curbello Urquijo, Dax Van Aalten, and Patrick Welch.

Matthew Barney is widely regarded to be one of today’s most important artists. He received the 1996 Hugo Boss Prize and the Europa 2000 Prize at the 1993 Venice Biennale. His Cremaster Cycle was the subject of a traveling exhibition organized by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 2003. An exhibition of Barney’s Drawing Restraint projects is currently touring. Barney’s latest film Drawing Restraint 9 has it’s US premier on March 28 and The Occidental Guest, an exhibition of drawings and sculptures related to the film, opens at Gladstone Gallery on April 7.

Eric Doeringer is a Brooklyn-based artist who is best known for his “Bootlegs” – inexpensive copies of work by other contemporary artists. He has exhibited internationally at venues including the Prague Biennale 2, San Francisco MOMA, The Currier Museum, Art Basel Miami Beach, The Frieze Art Fair, and The Armory Show. Since 2004 he has operated CremasterFanatic.com, a web site dedicated to Matthew Barney.
