Known primarily for his software screen work, Simon captures similar intensity and dynamism in these lush, complex drawings. His working process integrates computer mediated and hand drawn elements, blurring the boundary between the two.
Simon’s unconventional approach to landscape leads him to new compositions that are conceptually open-ended. Like the software programs that Simon writes and exhibits on wall-mounted screens, the drawings often have a sense of physical endlessness – elements fold in on themselves or open up in a seemingly infinite series of shapes. Through this rich visual vocabulary, Simon explores possibilities of structure and deconstruction, of growth and generation, of nature and society.
