Tea with Gods, consists of a collection of paintings, drawings, silk-screened prints, life-sized sculptures as well as artist’s hand made books. The whole gallery space will be transformed into the artist’s imaginary world of coexisting different kinds of god altogether.
Yunmee Kyong offers an idea of blurring the boundaries among different religions by depicting major religious icons into one place. In her painting, several kinds of god are taking a bath in a public bath and traveling to an imaginary country together. Kyong also presents two life-sized sculptures inspired by Asian religious icons (Buddha from Buddhism and Ganesha from Hindu). These two gods are having teas on a big table and audiences are invited to have a cup of tea on the same table together.
