Covering a span of 25 years, the exhibition will comprise 120 works on paper including watercolor, collage, pencil drawing, oil, and mixed media made in New York, Tokyo, Paris, Tangiers, Oaxaca, and Naples.
My habits regarding working on paper have always been quite personal and even private… My paper works are often visual commentaries of life in my mind and in my studio. I tend to work in series allowing myself a broad plane to explore and examine the facets of any given theme. The earliest works in the exhibition were prompted by my youthful obsession and collection of the American Indian. African Art also had a great hold on me at that time. Gradually nature took over, enveloping me with its vast and glorious offering.” James Brown, Paris 2006.
