Thordis Adalsteinsdottir is a New York based, Icelandic-born artist, whose idiosyncratic figurative paintings inhabit a peculiar zone somewhere between realist figuration, cartoons, anime and pure fantasy. The artist’s subjects, both human and animal, are often represented as unsettling distortions of their natural forms.
Also on view are the paintings by the L.A. based, Bulgarian born artist Iva Gueorguieva. Iva’s paintings combine otherworldly abstraction within an enticing and tumultuous pictorial space. In these bold new works, the artist incorporates elements of landscape, figuration and pure abstraction to confer emotional and social qualities onto the surface of the canvas.
