In Howard Fonda’s second solo show with Mixed Greens, he will present a series of paintings derived from his interest in American Transcendentalism and the writings of Thoreau. These ideals are manifested in forested landscapes that hover between representation and abstraction. While much of contemporary American culture is directed by fast-paced, multi-faceted media, Fonda’s paintings are political and philosophical sanctuaries where the viewer is invited to slow down.
