Blip Flip Quip is an exhibition composed of four videos by Kristine Marx, Rory Parks, Joanne Pasila, and Jonathan Podwil.

While continuing in a similar vain to earlier projections onto partitions, Kristine Marx has, with this new piece, eliminated the figure from her work; instead, she has created an entirely abstract digital animation that evolves through a cycle. Reading like a disjointed screen saver at points with superimposed images of, among other things, the Gropius House, a lost baseball and a political rally, Rory Parks presents a chaotic narrative of a soul-searching individual looking to build a “lyric screen.” Through the means of a live feed, Joanne Pasila projects the interior space of a miniature diorama illuminated by the flicker of a television. The result is an illusionistic extension of the gallery space. Jonathan Podwil works with super-8 film that he then painstakingly scans frame by frame to his computer for editing and manipulation. Compiling self-shot footage from a variety of sources, ranging from Goddard’s Le Weekend on his television to the streets of Spain, Podwil has spliced together short, grainy clips that loop seamlessly and continuously.

Kristine Marx earned her M.F.A. from Hunter College and is currently exhibiting her work at the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh. Rory Parks is a recent graduate of Hampshire College and is making his New York debut with his participation in this exhibition. Also new to Plane Space, Joanne Pasila has shown her work in a myriad of shows throughout New York and beyond. Jonathan Podwil, based in Brooklyn, will have his second solo show at Plane Space next season.
