The continuous expansion and updating of databases has both made information about people more accessible and conversely had a crushing effect on the individual. A person is reduced to a number, his/her identity is diminished, almost transparent. Keith Ervin’s installation uses these thoughts as his starting point. On a metallic silver ground he has mounted a diagonal grid of 13 inch circumference circular images. The distinctiveness of the figures in these digital photos is seen to be ‘erased’, stripped of personal identity.
