The Three Graces features the work of Martina Kubinyi, Shawn Bishop-Leo and Jennifer Sanchez. As their name suggests, the Graces or Charites were personifications of grace and charm in Greek mythology. Although various sources for myth refer to different numbers of Graces, most often they are depicted as a trio. These three goddesses, each a daughter of Zeus, represented an individual quality that was revered by the ancient Greeks. Aglaia personified beauty and radiance. Euphrosyne personified joy and mirth, Thalia personified blooming or flowering.

These enchanting goddesses were often the companions of Aphrodite in mythology. And indeed, the Graces were the perfect entourage for the radiant goddess of love. The Charites were also frequently found in the company of the Muses and many of the other Olympian gods and goddesses.

In this fashion the works of Shawn Bishop-Leo, Martina Kubinyi and Jennifer Sanchez reflect all three qualities of the Graces. In both their striking appearances as beautiful strong women and in their work; be it abstract, straight figurative or mixed media. The collection embodies the beauty intrinsic to the philosophy of the Graces.
