Growing Up In Public: A show of temporal art is a month-long project of process-oriented and ever-changing installations by twelve members of TAG Projects.
Over the course of the month, the artists will transform their installations, either by collaborating with each other or by inviting the viewers to participate and collaborate. The public is encouraged to see the development of each installations by visiting the gallery and by visiting the TAG Projects website.
The artists will create a variety of projects including a karaoke installation by Stanford Wintersberger, directed body/drawing performances by Jackie Milad, a photo blog project by Miriam Songster and an edible painting by T. Charnan Lewis.
Group collaborations will include a drawing made up of constantly accumulating marks by TAG Projects artists and directed by Elisabeth Smolarz. An installation of printed and shredded spam emails sent to participating artists over the course of the exhibition by Tamiko Kawata. An ever-morphing line of cut paper by Sarah Julig and fellow artists.
Additional projects include Monika Zarzeczna’s Micro World installation, Derick Melander’s folded clothing sculpture, William Armstrong’s evaporation performance, Hirofumi Maeshiba’s growing carved wood sculpture, and Magdalen Pierrakos’ installation which uses personal effects as a basis for its plot, structure, and narrative.
