Ruijun Shen expands her reinvention of a specialized method of Chinese Painting known as “Labor Brush”. Using fully transparent panels, oil on panel, architectural and structural elements packing tape and dirt she continues to investigate the spiritual and aesthetic duality, which fascinate her as an artist.

All aspects of this new work, painting or installational elements made be seen as a whole. Transparent/opaque, grayscale/color, fantasy/nature; Shen is always “opening a door” between the perceived duality of world and vision to create a flow of energy and draw us into another realm.

It seems she wants to remind us gently and continually of the “conversation of stability and change” that she perceives in the juxtaposition of organic and inorganic matter all around us and invite us to see the same forms flowing seamlessly through a plant, a rock, or the human body, because they are all in turn “perfectly reshaped by the power of nature”
