A Taste of Art presents Reconstructed Realities, an exhibition of large-format photographic prints by Aaron Yassin.
In his work Yassin digitally manipulates his photographs with great technical virtuosity repeating and multiplying forms and colors. He creates his images by cutting and pasting iconic architectural elements in works such as San Antonio, Palladio, II Redentore, and The Phoenix.
Deliberately, he is using this method to create images that define a space between the constructed abstractions of the American painter Ad Reinhardt, and the analytic photographs of German artists Bernd & Hilda Becher. In Pyramid of the Mind, a five-panel pigment print on canvas measuring 7.5×12 feet, we can observe his unique composition of geometrical shapes that resemble stained glass and provide us with a real sense of peace and a stage for contemplation.
In his rhythmic photographic tapestries, which draw inspiration from Islamic ornamentation and Buddhist Mandalas, he makes the spectator travel the world, from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Piazza San Marco and beyond.
