Primarily known for his sculpture this is David Opdyke’s first exhibition devoted solely to his drawings. Opdyke has a long standing dedication to drawing, working primarily in pen on paper. The images in his drawings are developed from a complex network of crosshatched marks rendering stark and captivating realities. Opdyke invents darkly amusing socio-architectural images, structures and conduits, wrapped in political innuendo—it is a cause and effect circulatory apparatus that hints at a cultural critique of compulsive consumerism and the uncertain times of war mongering nationalism.

Opdyke writes that his goal is “to present scenarios whose formal intensity makes them believable and whose bullheaded complexity reveals…grandiose absurdities”

The David Opdyke drawing exhibition is organized in collaboration with Roebling Hall.
