In Liu’s Unquiet Season, the delicate beauty of Liu’s hand initially seduces the viewer. Upon closer examination of the intricate line work, flies begin to swarm, while bunches of flowers obscure the image of an abandoned engine. Liu uses various qualities of paper, watercolor, silk screening, etching, marbleizing and dying to create multi-centered landscapes, flawlessly layered with manmade and natural elements generating a movement and fusion across each page and around the gallery walls.
