Breathing through transient space, Stephanie Hightower integrates abstract and representational imagery in oil on paper and panel. Using an extensive vocabulary of drawn and painted shapes, colors and textures, relationships are suggested but not prescribed. The spatial ambiguity of location and hierarchy among these forms pulse with unresolved tensions where groupings and polarities emerge, but do not dominate. Incomplete forms and spatial phrases reside between absence and presence. Unrest fills more space than rest. Stillness and resolve remain a promise without a ring.
