The exhibition will consist of approximately fifteen paintings that will wrap around the interior of the gallery, and five large-scale works. The paintings function as conceptual manifestations connecting design, architecture and experimental writing.
Adam Pendleton’s silkscreen on canvas paintings employ diverse methodologies to investigate and re-contextualize media based imagery. Approached as multi-disciplinary hybrids, Pendleton’s paintings serve as conceptual objects that represent the questions of identity, location, space, context and appropriation surrounding both contemporary and historic imagery. Pendleton’s work imparts documentation, research, and design to reconfigure the nature of social, political and cultural contexts, ultimately breaking down the time-fixed and static nature of visual art.
