Tomkins calls his paintings metaphoric landscapes. “The line between what is real and what is perceived has always intrigued me. Within these concepts lies mystery and the desire to paint.” The large and luminous paintings, are somehow illusory and tangible at once, reflecting Tomkins’ grasp of that elusive realm hovering between the real and the abstract.
