The origin of this piece is an early 1950’s Motorola console that my parents kept in our basement. I practiced drums along with the radio when I was 11, turning the volume up all the way. The only speaker was a 15’ woofer and the amplifier had tubes. Sometimes I’d quit playing drums and put my head in the speaker when there was a song I really wanted to hear, like I Can See For Miles, by the Who, with its crazy start and stop drumming by Keith Moon. – Tim Spelios
The installation consists of a scattering of seven aluminum ladders with wire dog cages balanced on top. Inside each cage is a 15” woofer resting on a lambs wool mat. The sound element consists of Tony Maimone on bass and Spelios on drums.
