Selma Hafizovic has exhibited in New York for the past 2 years with galleries such as Fredericks and Freiser and KS Art. She refers to her paintings as cinematic, and has said, “It seems useless to try to describe one’s own work considering how close you are to it.” Jessie Kotler photographs people with an empathetic lens when she is in other countries, and shoots regularly for Vice magazine. Her work is part of a traveling exhibit called tinyvices, which is currently open in Tokyo. Charlotte D’oglio’s strong mythical images reflect her interest in European icons, and religious ideas that she grew up with in Italy and the US. The 3 artists’ work references the immediacy, and invisibility of human connection. Here specifically that connection is consciously between the artist and the subject rendered.
