Kevin Cooley’s photography enjoys the knowledge of a sophisticated technique, and based on this solid ground his work adventures around the globe searching simultaneously for common and unusual circumstances.

The commonality is in his interest in the almost classical landscape tradition: large horizon, big skies, and endless views.

The unusual has to do with his knowledge of lights and exposure and all the possible results that such techniques can allow you.

Thanks to this artifice, a simple nightscape is transformed into a mesmerizing wishing up at the stars type of situation. Lonely dreams and hopes seem to take a visible presence and all the wishful thoughts go up into the skies searching for their mates.

Kevin Cooley’s ambition has brought him to the farthest habitable places on Earth, such as Longyearbyen, Svalbard, just to catch the most peculiar light, and again it is in these solitary settings that he seems the most comfortable and at ease.

To be a photographer for Cooley is a lonely, meditative experience, and this show is the result of such deep contemplation.
