Jack Duplock’s mixed-media paintings and drawings depict magical nights in the forest, the darkness twinkling and pulsating as moths flutter, vines creep and young zombies congregate around boomboxes. Boyhood wonder, starry-eyed seduction and B-movie horror combine to create the scary yet irresistible and transcendent allure of the ultimate camping trip on acid. The thorny foliage is pulled aside and the energy of the deeper world combusts into a rave. Roses bleed; mouths, eyes, and cassette tapes float amongst the butterflies and ectoplasm. The boombox pulsates, the clothes come off and the forest burns as the night does it’s magic. The boy and his dog have been bitten, they are enchanted, they are rockstars for eternity.
