Brian Knep exhibits interactive installations that directly engage the human body and require human interaction. Using video and computers, Knep creates situations in which the viewer affects the movement of images that are projected on the floor or walls of the gallery. The images, which resemble microscopic biological structures, seem to mimic the morphing of living organisms. Fun to interact with, the works suggest comparisons between the properties of organic life and human experience – contact, growth, change, and the healing of wounds. The artist, trained in computer science and mathematics, raises philosophical questions to find “The Soul” in technology.
