The Cement Garden is a group show of new figurative paintings by Skyler Brickley, Dominic Mangila, Emily Mae Smith and Margaux Williamson.
Skyler Brickley, a New York based artist and recent graduate of the Yale program, has included a large work from his new series of paintings of soccer players.
Dominic Mangila is exhibiting two paintings titled The Eagle Lands and Chopper inspired by the helicopter flight dictator Ferdinand Marcos used to flee the country.
Emily Mae Smith is exhibiting two paintings titled Etc. and Peasant. Emily graduated from Columbia’s MFA program in 2006 and she lives and works in New York.
Margaux Williamson lives and works in Toronto and studied art at Queens University in Ontario. Three of her new paintings are presented in the show, including the interior scene Portrait of the Woman Next Door.
