The Indian art scene is in exciting times. There are many new voices that are coming to the forefront as India itself is increasingly making herself heard on an international level. A range of approaches to making art is seen here. This quintet includes artists who have been working for the last five to ten years. Throughout these years they have evolved a personalized visual idiom. While the visual media is a source for thought and image reference for many of the other Indian artists, stylistically each artist in this show provides a strikingly fresh perspective using different and innovative idioms.

Two artists from the group, Kim Kyoungae and Gayatri Gamuz have made India their base for more than a decade. While Kyoungae is from South Korea, Gayatri (born Inmaculada Gamuz) is from Spain. The other three artists are of Indian orgin and are based in Baroda, Gujarat. The artists paint about widely relevant issues from a personal viewpoint rather than a generic social or political stand. This collection can be described as `Of fantasy, escape and the everyday’. This exhibition celebrates the diversity in approach to painting currently seen in emerging contemporary Indian art.
