The ICP/Bard Program in Advanced Photographic Studies student thesis exhibition includes nine members of its 2007 graduating class: Lara Alcantara, Charles Atherton, Adam Blumberg, Marla Caplan, Catherine Kunkemuller, Kenric McDowell, David Smith, Davis Thompson-Moss, and Brina Thurston.

Artist and educator Nayland Blake, who chairs the program, states: “The nine photographers in this exhibition, the third in the program’s five-year history, combine a deep understanding of photography’s conventions with a willingness to simultaneously turn those conventions on their heads. Notions of landscape, portrait, the photo essay, and the art photograph are made into complex vehicles for exploring the self and our society. An image that looks like a straight forward document reveals itself to be elaborately staged. These photographers embrace digital processes without being in thrall to them: the same image may pass through stages of being processed by traditional and digital means. The willingness to move easily between a range of techniques and modes of historical address, and a vision of the self and society as profoundly image-based, attest to the unique talents and ideas of this graduating class.”
