The Secret Arch is an interactive sound installation based on an actual architectural feature located at Grand Central Station, New York. There, among the loud bustle of commute, when you whisper into one corner of the station’s arch you can be heard clearly on the opposite side.

In China Blue’s installation, The Secret Arch, visitors are invited to participate by whispering things most often kept hushed: passions, fears, phobias or secrets. Anonymously recorded, these confessions will be played randomly with recordings from Grand Central Station. The acoustic result will be fragments of people’s needs, passions, fears and phobias mixed with station messages and ambient sounds of Grand Central Station. Paintings on circuit boards accompany the sound exhibit, visualizing the sound waves in the room.
