The McCaig-Welles Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of work by The Goldmine Shithouse.

The Goldmine Shithouse (GMSH) is an artist collaborative that was started by artists David Hochbaum, Travis Lindquist and Colin Burns in early 2003. The idea of forming a collaboration evolved after many months of meeting and creating art every Saturday night at Lindquist’s studio with other artists joining in the process. The three found they specifically worked well together and decided to formally call themselves “The Goldmine Shithouse”.

Lindquist, Burns and Hochbaum approached galleries with the concept that they would live and work in the gallery for two weeks, while they generated works for the exhibition. The galleries remain open while the trio is in residence, they welcome patrons in while they generate the shows work.

These ideas were met with much success and for the past several years The Goldmine Shithouse has exhibited throughout the United States and abroad. This is The Goldmine Shithouse’s second show at McCaig-Welles Gallery. They have previously exhibited at Studio One Gallery, Metalstone Gallery, Capital Hill Arts Gallery, Mornea Gallery, among others. Their work is in major private and public collections
