Emerging artist Alexis Peskine has created several large-scale images to showcase the intense racial politics that has been overtaking his native country of France for the past decade. Emigration from Africa and other continents has transformed France into a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic society, though portions of the population have not yet dealt with this changing reality. Peskine’s works reveal an opposing view of La Douce France, a view demonstrating the marginalization of people of color within this country. Through The French Evolution, we hope to expose viewers to another world co-existing within the France, but unknown to outsiders.

Alexis Peskine, un jeune artiste en pleine ascension, a créé plusieurs images de grandes dimensions qui révèlent l’intensité de la politique raciale dont la France, son pays natal, a été le terrain ces dix dernières années. Les immigrants venus d’Afrique et d’autres continents ont transformé la France en une société multiculturelle et multiethnique, bien que toute une partie de la population n’ait pas encore pu se faire à cette « nouvelle » réalité. Les oeuvres de Peskine révèlent une vision contestataire de la « douce France », qui met en évidence la marginalisation dont les gens de couleur sont victimes. A travers The French Evolution, nous espérons exposer le public à cet « autre monde », inconnu des étrangers, qui coexiste avec la société française « traditionnelle ».
