MIA ROGNSTAD

Like being male or female, I was born an artist. Its not a choice. I came from the West, Hells Canyon on the Snake River in S.E. Washington, to New York to be with and learn from other artists. After eight years of city life I decided to take a break. That was 2003. The pieces presented here illustrate what I’ve been doing while on the road; practicing. I’ve been working seasonal cook jobs in parks and kid camps all across our great nation. The big plus was “Housing Provided” but space was limited. To continue my painting I had to have canvas that fit in a small area. Postcards were readily available, easily transportable and most importantly had meaning.

GERARD BARBOT

“Perception: one person’s trash is another’s treasure. Process: accumulation of abandoned artifacts. Assemblage: rearranging parts of a puzzle and giving ordinary objects new form & function.” -Gerard Barbot

Gerard Barbot was born in Paris, France in 1952 and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Most of his life, he has been a blue collar worker but has managed to teach himself how to be an artist (primarily doing collage & assemblage). Gerard has shown all over the U.S. and abroad in a variety of spaces and places
