TamarindArt is delighted to bring to you this exhibition, Of Images and Illusions, showcasing five young artists from India who may be considered among the most brilliant artists of their generation. Image highlights and a press release are attached. Let me know if you need more information or would like higher quality images.

Participating artists: Pappu Bardhan, Chandrima Bhattacharyya, Pratul Dash, Chhatrapati Dutta, and Mahjabin Majumdar

It is an eclectic group that takes the audience through a journey ranging from the mystical landscape within the human body of Majumdar’s to the sublime spread of the horizon in Dash’s paintings where the human body becomes a mere object within the vastness of nature. Some may argue that, in the twenty-first century modes of picture making, to simply work with the human figure, conceived as a self-contained entity, viewed from a single vantage point perhaps is too narrow a focus – but it is not necessarily the mere representation that one sees in this group of paintings but it is the portrayal of the human body by implication rather than imitation. Each of the artists attempt to mirror the predicaments of our times through their works of art – it is a personal journey and yet universal portraying the zeitgeist that knows no geographical boundaries in present day techno savvy era.
