FusionArts Museum is pleased to open its new season with two new exhibits: “What the Hell Is It, Ethel?” – a group exhibit that transforms everyday objects into contemporary art curated by Vernita Nemec and FusionArts Museum and “Epiphanies” – Text and film by Richard Kostelanetz, installation and performance created by Shalom Neuman

Special guest performances – Jean Voguet and Alchemical Theater featuring Jessica Sloate

“What the Hell Is It, Ethel?” is a group show of multidisciplinary art that embraces communication between artists and viewers, welcoming conversations regarding what is considered art and what does the art mean? This exhibit is not about making art palatable to the public at large but allowing the exhibit to embrace and engage its audience, allowing them the freedom to ask “What the hell is it?” without feeling marginalized, stupid or scammed.

“What the Hell Is It Ethel?” takes its name from a poem by writer and fusion artist Steve Dalachinsky. Based on a conversation in an art gallery about the meaning of art, the poem transcends its original thought to become a philosophical discourse on the meaning of life and why are we here.

This is a bi-continental exhibit between FusionArts Museum in New York and Gallery Atelier Kavka in Prague, Czech Republic. “Co je sakra tohle, Máno?” opens at Gallery Atelier Kavka, Praha 1, – Stare mesto on September 18, 2007 at 6 pm
