An exhibit of art work by recent immigrants from around the world to the United States. New York has always been a port of entry for immigrants. In the 20th century as New York became the leading art center immigrant artists enriched and energized the New York art world. Our exhibit presents a new generation of artists who have come to live and create art in New York.
One of the original settlement houses on the Lower East Side, The Educational Alliance is pleased to continue the tradition of providing art education and exhibits for the community of the Lower East Side as well as exhibition opportunities for immigrant and emerging artists. Over the past century The Art School provided many immigrants art classes including Peter Blume, Jacob Epstein, Adolph Gottlieb, Chaim Gross, Louise Nevelson, Jules Olitski, Ben Shahn, and Moses Soyer.
