Is abstract art alive? What makes it alive? What does this word “abstract” mean? Who really decides whether it is alive or dead? How is it decided? Do we agree? Or disagree? What does it mean for art to be alive? Can art be alive?

Each stroke, of each artist in this group exhibition, Abstract Alive!, has been digging deep into these questions. The artists invite the viewers to ask the same questions, and through the painted rhythms, textures, lines, gestures and colors, can find for themselves if abstract is alive.

The raw energy, the unrestricted action, on-the-spot vitality, the immediacy of the moment, and possibilities unlimited are constantly feeding each artist’s dialogue with the working surface.

What the artists find is what makes “abstract” alive.

This is the inaugural exhibition of the artists represented by Gallery 380. We are committed to showing only work that is strong, mature, dynamic and raw from artists who don’t just throw paint down with an overabundance of meanings and purposes, but who first reject virtually everything and then celebrate what follows next.
